Texas Political Lobbyist News: Greg Abbott Further Statements on Voter ID

Attorney General Greg Abbott has just released a public statement concerning Voter ID laws, criticizing and challenging those that oppose them. “Eric Holder’s outrageous claim that voter ID is a racist plot to disenfranchise minority voters is gutter politics and is offensive to the overwhelming majority of Texans of all races who support this ballot integrity measure.” There is concern by some that Voter ID laws restrict votes, especially those of minorities. This is because not everyone has a driver’s license, or is aware of how easy it can be to get an applicable photo ID at the Texas Department of Public Safety. Supporters of Voter ID laws hear instances of voter fraud, and feel the need to protect the vote with a photo ID shown at the time of voting. Amidst the controversy, the Obama Administration is in the process of suing to remove Texas’s Voter ID laws.
