Texas Political Lobbyist News: More money coming for damaged Eagle Ford Shale roads

$250 million dollars in state funding could potentially be put towards helping repair damaged roads in Texas. Specifically, in areas that produce oil and gas. The state has gotten behind in road repair over the years, especially in more rural areas. This $250 million comes from vehicle registration fees. There were a lot more registered vehicles than Texas had anticipated this year. The money is already pledged to transportation in Texas’s constitution. If put towards roads in oil and gas producing counties, the money would pay for an estimated 70 repair projects. This includes the following counties: Atascosa, Dimmit, Frio, Gonzales, Karnes, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Webb, Wilson and Zavala. The money would also fund projects in nearby counties like Lavaca, Uvalde, Comal and Guadalupe.
