Texas Political Lobbyist Update: Senate Floor Action

On Friday July 19th of 2013 the Texas State Senate temporarily suspended Senate rules to pass several bills. These include House Bill 16, House Joint Resolution 2, and Senator Whitmire’s SR 71 Senate Caucus Report. House Bill 16 is authored by Representatives Pickett, Phillips, and Harper-Brown. The bill concerns state revenues, specifically revenue for transportation and transfers. House Joint Resolution 2 proposes a constitutional amendment to use revenue from motor fuel taxes exclusively for maintaining and constructing rights of way for public roadways.
